Mumbai’s Diya Chitale the current Sub Jr National Champion and ranked 23rd in the world became the sole Indian among 10 girls and 10 boys to be selected for the prestigious ITTF Rough Diamonds training program to be held in Otocec, Slovenia at the Slovenian National Table Tennis Training Center from 25th September- 3rd October 2017.

The Rough Diamonds programme is organised by ITTF Education & Training Program jointly with the Slovenian Table Tennis Association. Joze Urh (SLO) and Andreja Ojstersek Urh (SLO) will be the Head Coaches for this programme. The Head Coaches will be assisted by 2 more coaches from the Slovenian National Center and will work in close cooperation with the coaches of the participating players.  Basis of the agenda is to offer high quality coaching and training facilities for aspiring young players who have enjoyed success on the international scene and display the skills to move to an even higher level. In particular there is an emphasis on the needs of the individuals.

The dates for the training camp in Otocec have been selected in order to coincide with ITTF World Junior Circuit tournaments in Central Europe. Notably the Croatia Junior and Cadet Open will be held from Wednesday 13th to Sunday 17th September, followed by the Slovenia Junior and Cadet Open from Wednesday 20th to Sunday 24th September and then the Serbia Junior and Cadet Open from Wednesday 4th to Sunday 8th October.
